Sheriff Lane Carter Will Retire May 1
Sheriff Lane Carter is retiring from law enforcement after 34 years. He submitted his resignation Monday, effective the first of May. Based on the recommendation of the Moore County Republican Party, county commissioners will appoint Chief Deputy Neil Godfrey to succeed him as sheriff.
