Surveyor Cecil Porter works in the sand parking lot in downtown Pinehurst Feb. 8. The work is part of renovations to downtown Pinehurst's Village Green, a 13-acre tract that includes the Village Chapel and Given Memorial Library and the Tufts Archives, as well as 7.3 acres of village-owned unoccupied space. Improvements include a shift to the sand parking lot and a larger lawn open space. The parking lot will be paved with a new surface that is more user-friendly. (Glenn M. Sides)
