The National Dirtballers, after having a very successful 6-1 season record, advanced to the Southern N.C. District Championship that was held in Greenville. The National Dirtballers played in the 14 and Under Intermediate Division for tennis teams. The Sandspurs, a local travel baseball team, won the Triad Sports Summertime Blues 13U Select Championship in Thomasville. The Sandspurs finished the weekend 4-0, scoring 51 runs and allowing only 11. The O'Neal School boys' soccer team spent four days in Greensboro at the UNCG men's team soccer camp. O'Neal played five games against other high school teams, and won each of the games, winning the group championship. They scored 14 goals and allowed only one. The Orioles captured the tournament title in the 11-12-year-old Sandhills Optimist major league tournament. The team went on quite a run after starting the season 0-6. It won eight of their last nine games, including three last-inning rallies in each tournament game. Entering the tournament as a fifth seed, the Orioles defeated the fourth, first and second seeds to win the championship.
