WW II Aviator Links Chinese Province, N.C.

Robert Hoyle Upchurch, the Flying Tiger pilot and High Falls native who once said it wouldn’t matter much if he “got knocked off,” is remembered in memorials on two continents. Now, the tie he unknowingly forged long ago in battle has borne fruit with formal agreements officially signed linking North Carolina and Hunan Province in China.
