Fulton Smith, Andy Jenkins, Shamiso Kodzai and Ramsey Milligan are fifth-graders at The O'Neal School. The students were barely 1 year old when the terrorist attacks occurred on Sept. 11, and their perspective on the event has been shaped by the stories they have heard about the attacks over time.

As we pause to remember what happened 10 years ago on Sept. 11, it's easy to forget that most of Moore County's younger residents were too young to understand the horrific events that forever changed the United States.
