Jerald David Averitt, 70 of Aberdeen, went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2013, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Mr. Averitt was born April 27, 1942, in Moore County to the late Phillip David Averitt and Lena (Sublett) Averitt.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Crossroads Community Church in Whispering Pines with David Talbert officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen.
Mr. Averitt was a loving man and friend to many others who provided for and cared deeply for his family. He was an avid Volkswagen collector.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Maxine L. Averitt; two daughters, Cathy Disinger and husband, Billy, of Southern Pines, and Toni Averitt, of Mount Holly; three grandchildren, Bryan Scarlett and wife, Kristen, of Jackson Springs, Stephen Scarlett and wife, ShayLynn, of Arvado , Col., and Milez Tackett, of Mount Holly; two great-grandchildren, Jayden Scarlett and Baylee Scarlett, both of Jackson Springs; a sister, Dixie Johnson and husband, Cecil, of Aberdeen.
Mr. Averitt was preceded in death by a sister, Valerie Averitt.
A visitation will be held Friday March 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines.
