Mary Patricia Killeen (Forristal), of Pinehurst, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at FirstHealth Hospital following a brief illness.
Born Nov. 1, 1937. to Thomas and Rosaleen Forristal, Cleveland, Ohio.
Cherished wife of 55 years to Thomas J. Killeen, married on Nov. 28, 1957. Beloved mother of six: Timothy of Columbus, Ohio; Patricia (Mark) Warther, of New Philadelphia, Ohio; Sheila (Robert) Deitrick, of North Olmsted, Ohio; Thomas and partner (Scot Champlin), of Atlanta Ga.; Catherine (Jeffrey) Monteroso, of Saint Clairesville, Ohio; Daniel (Johnine), of Kosice, Slovakia. Grandmother of nine: Patrick Warther (Abby), Katherine Cunningham (Steven), Bryan Warther, Maggie Deitrick, Daniel, Michael and Claire Monteroso, Devin and Delaney Killeen. Great-grandmother of Aubrey Warther and Parker Cunningham. Sister of Thomas Forristal (Alice deceased) and Noreen McBride (John deceased).
Mary graduated from Ursuline Academy of Sacred Heart and Charity Hospital School of X-Ray Technician. During her tenure in Cleveland, she was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, the Athletic Association, Drama Club, Altar and Rosary Society and taught music at St. Patrick’s School. She was instrumental in helping her husband graduate from Cleveland State University; she also made sure all of her children graduated from college. They moved to Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1982 where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society of Saint John Neumann parish. In 1997 she and her husband retired to Pinehurst to play golf. She then took the position of food sampler and demonstrated how to prepare all of the beef, chicken and fish products offered at the Fresh Market since they first opened in Pinehurst. Ms. Mary made many friends while demonstrating the store’s products.
There will be a wake on Friday March 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home located at 35 Parker Lane, Pinehurst. Mass of Christian burial celebrated by Monsignor Jeffrey Ingham at St. Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church, Southern Pines, North Carolina at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8. Any donations can be made in Mary Pat’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memphis Tennessee, Poor Clare’s Monastery in Cleveland Ohio or a charity of your choice.
