John L. Peterson

John L. “Jack” Peterson, 85, of Whispering Pines, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, in Charlotte.
Mr. Peterson was born Nov. 22, 1927, in Fords, N.J. A graduate of Woodbridge High School, in Woodbridge, N.J., he earned a degree in business administration from Rutgers University. He served in the U.S. Navy from Sept. 14, 1945 to Nov. 8, 1948.
He worked for Labor Union No. 1456, New York City Dock Builders as a journeyman, foreman, general foreman and project manager.
Jack and his wife, Mary Lou, who died in 2008, moved to Whispering Pines in 1998.
Surviving are a son, John Michael Peterson and wife, Rosie, of Charlotte; a daughter, Amy Longo, and husband, Robert C., of Monmouth Beach, N.J.; his brother, Peter Peterson, of Morganville, N.J.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
