COMNINAKI

Mildred Yelton Comninaki, of Seven Lakes, the widow of Siverin P. Comninaki, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the age of 92, in Pinehurst.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Chapel in the Pines, in Seven Lakes. A reception will follow in the chapel’s social hall.
Mrs. Comninaki was born and raised in Pensacola, and completed nursing school at Lees-McCrae College before joining the Army in World War II as a nurse. Her nursing career took her to England with the Army, and after she mustered out, she worked in New York City and then New Orleans.
During her Army duty, she met her future husband when they were both stationed at Fort Bragg. When he came home from the war, he courted her in New Orleans, and following that, they married and moved to Norfolk, Va., where they started their family and she became a homemaker and full time mother of five.
The family moved to Virginia Beach, Va., in 1954, and remained there until 1984, when they moved to Seven Lakes.
Mrs. Comninaki was an avid golfer, bridge and Scrabble player.
She is survived by her children, William Y. Comninaki and his wife Tricia, Lauritz P. Comninaki and his wife, Kaye, John S. Comninaki and his wife, Kathy, Janet C. Lundin and her husband, David, and M. Louise Comninaki, as well as her six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
