Jerome (Jerry) Snee

Jerome (Jerry) Snee, born May 18, 1937, died peacefully at home in the loving arms of his wife and children on the sunny morning of Friday, Jan. 18, 2013.
The son of Mary Pilcavage Snee and John Thomas Snee, of Edwardsville, Pa., the gregarious, compassionate and caring Jerry was well-loved by family and friends far and wide.
Born in his parents’ home and raised in coal country of northern Appalachia, Jerry lived a rich life. He served two years in the U.S. Army in Korea and Fort Dix, N.J. Afterward, Jerry attended Kings College and Bloomsburg State Teacher’s College; later completing his master’s degree at Hofstra University.
Married to Priscilla Luzetsky in 1962, they made their home in Sayville, Long Island, N.Y., where Jerry had a long career as a reading teacher and where they raised three children, Karen Lynne, Jerry Charles and Kathleen Ann.
After retirement, Jerry and Priscilla relocated to Seven Lakes. They have been devout members of Sacred Heart Parish, Pinehurst, for 18 years, where Jerry also served as an adorer during that time. Jerry was also a Knight of Columbus for more than 50 years, serving both on LI at St Lawrence the Martyr and at Sacred Heart parishes. Here in North Carolina, he enjoyed golfing and time spent in the company of his family, friends and doting dog, Monty.
Jerry and the love of his life, Priscilla, recently celebrated their landmark 50th wedding anniversary. He was the loving grandfather (aka, “Pop Pop”) of Meghan, Grace and Matthew Murphy.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Priscilla; his children, Karen (Bill Campbell), Jerry, Kathleen Murphy (James); their children, Meghan, Grace and Matthew; and his brother, Eugene V. Snee.
He is predeceased by his twin brother, Charles John; brother, John Allen; his parents, John and Mary Snee; and adoring parents-in-law, Mary and Stephen Luzetsky.

Visitation will be held at Boles Funeral Home in Seven Lakes from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21. A funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22.
