James Theodore Pare, 88, of Southern Pines, passed Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Manor Care, in Pinehurst.
A service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Pare was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Mount Clemens, Mich., to the late Theodore Pare and Janet (Horn) Pare. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the Elks of Southern Pines and an avid golfer and member of the Southern Pines Golf Club.
Mr. Pare collected die-cast model cars with more than 400 in his collection. He was a kind and distinguished gentlemen and one of the nicest people you could ever meet.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Lavon J. Pare; two daughters, Kim Hagen and Kendall Ricker; a grandson, Steven Ricker; a granddaughter, Stacey Kramer; three great-grandsons, Alex Kramer, Nicholas Kramer and Benjamin Kramer; and two stepchildren, Nancy Ballet and Jeff Ballet.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Manor Care of Pinehurst, 205 Rattlesnake Trail, Pinehurst, NC 28374, for their loving and gracious care of James.
