Mary Ruth Powers Hussey, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Smyrna United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Tal Madison and the Rev. Edwin Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, and at other time at the home.
Mrs. Hussey was a native of Moore County. Ruth worked at Robbins Mill and for years on the family poultry farm with her husband, Richard. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful member of her church, with a warm smile and kind word for everyone each Sunday.
Ruth was a daughter of the late Eli and Lula Hussey Powers. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Colene Brown and Carene Yow; and brothers Randall Powers, John Earlie Powers and Robert Powers.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 54 years, Richard; daughter, Donna Ward and husband, David, of Carthage; grandchildren, Jordan and Bryson; brother Ralph Powers; and many special nieces and nephews.
