Michael E. Cook
Michael E. “Mike” Cook, 61, of Carthage, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Durham V.A. Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday at Red Branch Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. D.C. Sullivan. Burial followed in the church cemetery with military honors. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home and other times at the home.
A native of Moore County, he was a son of Louise Tripp Cook and the late Joseph E. “Buck” Cook, Jr. and was a U.S. Navy veteran. As a young man he work with his father at the Etna gas station in Carthage and later worked for N.C. Department of Transportation, and Hobbs Upchurch as a surveyor.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Cook; and a brother, Randy Cook.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Cheryl McInnis Cook; daughter Kerry Cook, of Robbins; stepdaughter Haley McInnis; sister Pamela Stutts, of Carthage; and granddaughters Cynthia and Serenity Hancock.
