Donald R. Haney
Donald Ray Haney, 75, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Bethesda Cemetery, Aberdeen, with the Rev. Jonathan Wallace officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p..m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Boles Funeral Home, Southern Pines.
Donald was born April 13, 1937, in Cabarrus County, to Frances Elizabeth Denny and Joseph Vaid Haney. He graduated from Southern Pines High School in 1955 and graduated from CCTI in Sanford with honors.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a tool and die maker and master machinist for the Campbell’s Soup Company in Maxton from the time it opened until his retirement in 2003.
He is survived by two daughters, Terry Haney Hardison-Dalton (Kevin Dalton), of Aberdeen, and Dona Rae Haney (Ervin Dale Simmons), of Ash; sisters Jean Haney Webb, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Linda Haney Flanagan (Dwight), of Southport; and grandchildren, Brittany Elizabeth Hardison, Patrick McDonald Hardison and Victoria Rose Haney. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn B. Haney, in 2011.
