Marian C. Green
Marian Carlotta Green, 88, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, after a long battle with Parkinson’s. She died under hospice care in the comfort of the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Ed Peele, of Southern Pines. Michelle and Ed were at her bedside.
A memorial service will be held at at 11:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Quail Haven chapel, Pinehurst.
Carlotta was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Zanesville, Ohio. She graduated from Ohio State University in Columbus with a degree in accounting. Carlotta was fortunate to be able to stay at home and raise her three children until 1967, when she started her teaching career in the Westerville (Ohio) School System. She taught at the elementary level for 25 years, after which she and her husband retired to North Carolina.
Carlotta was a successful golfer and active at both Brookside Country Club in Columbus and Beacon Ridge Country Club in Seven Lakes. She played amazing bridge, mah-jongg and loved working with her hands in artistic endeavors. She was a friend to many.
Carlotta was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Marianne Johnson; her husband of 54 years, Ned Green; and her granddaughter Morgan Perdue.
Carlotta is survived by her daughter, Michelle Peele and her husband, Ed, of Southern Pines; her son, Tom Green and wife, Robin, of Columbus, Ohio; her daughter, Lynda McDermott and her husband, Bill Waite, of Tampa; her brother, Robert Johnson and his wife, Lois of Delaware, Ohio; her brother-in-law, Ron Green and wife, Patti, of Southern Pines; grandchildren and great grandchildren, MacKenzie Henry and husband Philip, of Durham, Meredith Perdue and partner, Michael Cain, of South Portland, Maine, Courtney Lindsay and husband, Matt, of Bexley, Ohio, Kelsey Cribbett and husband, Don, of Athens, Ohio, Carylyn Waite, of Tampa, Meridith Thompson and husband, Ryan, of Ventura, Calif., Keri Christianson and husband, Paul, of Durham, Kate and Jack Lindsay, Kaden Bartlett, Ruby and Hunter Cribbet, and Pax Morgan Henry.
