Joan K. Bramley
BRAMLEY
Joan Page Kellogg Bramley, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at the Inn at Quail Haven.
A memorial service celebrating Joan’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at the Community Presbyterian Church, in Pinehurst. The family invites friends to a reception at the church after the service.
Formerly from Pittsford, N.Y., and most recently from Pinehurst, she was predeceased by her devoted husband of 50 years, William Alexander Bramley II.
Joan was born on June 1, 1927, in Seattle. She graduated from Stevens College in Missouri. Joan married Bill in 1959 and immediately took on the responsibility of raising three sons, William A. Bramley III (wife Cheryl), of San Diego, David Bramley (wife Georgie), of Wilmington, and Craig Bramley (Renee Hanks), of Hudson Falls, N.Y. Joan leaves behind five beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Timothy, Kendra, Gavin, and Cole. When talking about her family, she would often brag, “I have the greatest family in the world.”
Joan was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the Historical Society in Savannah, Ga., and displayed talent in interior decorating, knitting and needlepoint. She enjoyed playing bridge, going to the movies and theater with friends, and out to dinner with her dinner club, the “Cheerful Clompers.”
Also important to Joan was her Bible study group and spending time with her three children and five grandchildren. Joan was an active member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Pinehurst, where she enjoyed the fellowship of friends and served as a Steven minister.
Joan and Bill loved traveling and cruising around the world. Joan was an avid reader, from the latest Steven King novel to Entertainment Weekly. Her grandkids would call her a very “cool” grandma, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends!
Memorials may be made to Community Presbyterian Church, 125 Everett Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374.
