Walter R. Marley
Walter Ruffin Marley, 84, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Flint Hill Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. William Hancock and the Rev. Mark Forrest officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church and at other times at the home.
Mr. Marley was a native of Moore County. He was a retired truck driver. He was a son of the late Ernest Carson and Nespie Mae Cockman Marley, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Wima Marley.
Walter is survived by his wife of 62 years, Flossie Ometa Helms Marley; daughters Wanda Marley, of Robbins, Rose Russell, of Biscoe, and Linda Sheffield and husband, Wayne, of Robbins; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters Martha Love, Pearl Buie, Prillia Brown and Frances Stanley.
