Gerald H. Buelow, 75, of Seven Lakes, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at FirstHealth Hospice, in Pinehurst, after a short battle with cancer.
A public viewing will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Boles Funeral Home, in Seven Lakes. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, in Southern Pines.
He was born June 4, 1937, in Minot, N.D., to Albert and Frieda (Hass) Buelow. Gerry graduated from North Dakota State in mechanical engineering and developed lawn, garden and grounds care products for John Deere in Horicon, Wis., Moline, Ill., and Raleigh before retiring with his wife, Lora, to Seven Lakes.
Gerry was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Southern Pines and with Seven Lakes Kiwanis. He loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed playing golf, fishing and hunting with friends, as well as traveling the country and the world.
Survivors include Gerry’s wife of 50 years, Lora; daughters Lynn (John) Ries, of Wilsonville, Ore., Julia (Eric) Gilbert, of Princeton, N.J., and Emily (Robert) Erickson, of Raleigh; and siblings Fred (Lois) Buelow, Lucille Buelow, Ray (Margret) Buelow and Carol (Don) Owens. Grandchildren Sophia and Corwin Ries, Spencer and Sawyer Gilbert and Nolan and Hayden Erickson will also miss their Opa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church or the Seven Lakes Kiwanis.
