Mary Alice (McRae) White, 72, passed away at home in Holly Springs, on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, of congestive heart failure with her family by her side.
Mary Alice was born on October 16, 1940, to the late Joseph McRae and Christine Godwin McRae. Mary Alice grew up in Red Springs. Throughout her adult life, she resided in Florida, Texas and Virginia.
Over the years, she loved planting beautiful flower gardens, oil painting, walking her dogs, sipping a cup of hot coffee and spending time with friends, family, her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchild, “Lily”.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Howard White.
She is survived by her loving sister, Flora Mae Krogman; her loving children, son, Dwayne White, of Durham; daughter, Anna, and son in-law, Kevin Heyel, of Holly Springs; daughter, Alicia Yanchisin, of Pinehurst/Stuttgart Germany; three grandchildren, Amanda Hill, of Austin Texas, Christopher White (wife, Lauren, and great-grandchild, Lily), of Fort Mitchell, Ala., Karoline White Morris, (husband, Tyler), of Amarillo, Texas; and many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and -nephews.
Mary Alice was an active church member at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, in Aberdeen, from 2005 through 2009. Due to health-related issues, Mary Alice moved to Holly Springs so she could be closer to her children. Mary Alice received Jesus Christ as her savior and shared with her daughter, Anna, that she was ready to go home.
Family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, Feb. 24, 2013, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home, 40229 U.S. 1 South, Aberdeen.
A memorial service will be held at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 217 S. Pinehurst St,, Aberdeen, on Monday morning, Feb. 25, 2013, at 11 a.m.
Following the memorial service will be a graveside service at Alloway Cemetery in Red Springs.
