Edwin Bernard Gentry, 86, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at the FirstHealth Hospice House, in Pinehurst.
Services for Mr. Gentry will be private.
After a dual career, first as a U.S. Army officer and then in a government service position, Mr. Gentry and his wife retired to Pinehurst, where they lived for the past 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lelia Britt Gentry. He is survived by his son, Steven E. Gentry and wife, Betty G. Gentry; grandsons, Owen S. Gentry and wife, Carolyn, and Scott Gentry and wife, Annie; and a great grandson (his namesake), Edwin Gentry.
