Carlun S. Horton
Carlun Singleton Mazyck Miley Horton, 90, of Aberdeen, formerly of Long Island, N.Y., passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Mount Lebanon Church of God Cemetery.
Carlun was born May 22, 1922, in Jedberg, S.C., to the late Thomas and Ida Singleton.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Matthew Mazyck, married 30 years; Joseph Miley, married 25 years; and Robert Horton, married five years; children Charles Melvin Mazyck, Zenobia Watts and John David Midgette; and one sister, Eloise Singleton.
She is survived by her children Kenneth Muteé and wife, Cecilia, of Nevada, Joseph Michael Miley and wife, Veronica, of California, Teresa Cratch, of North Carolina, and Marlene Midgette Fosque, of Georgia; her primary caregiver and granddaughter, Samara Watts Moore and her husband, Daimian, of Aberdeen; sister, Rosa Lee Taylor; 12 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
She was a faithful member of Mount Lebanon Church of God. She was a mother to all, opening her heart and her home to all that were in need.
