Dr. Timothy Eugene Davis, 67, of Greensboro, died peacefully Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at home, surrounded by family.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Tim’s life was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, in Greensboro. Following the service, the family received friends in the Haywood Duke Room.
Tim was born in Barnhardt, Mo., but grew up in Altheimer, Ark. He was the son of Miriam and Grover Davis.
Tim received his medical degree at the University of Arkansas For Medical Sciences in 1971, did his internship at the University of Alabama, and residency at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, Tenn., before establishing his practice in Greensboro. He retired as a partner of Central Carolina Surgery, P.A., in 2010. He was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dedication to the health and safety of his patients was Dr. Davis’ top priority in his career. Outside of his medical practice, Tim was locally famous for his garden, growing coveted tomatoes, herbs and roses. Sue and Tim loved escaping to their home in Pinehurst for Tim’s favorite pastime of fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Donathan White; sister, Ellen Rush and husband, Charles; uncle, Tom Lyon and wife, Augusta; children, Scott Burgin and wife Elizabeth, Shannon Kemp and husband, Mike, Joshua Davis, Jeffrey Davis and wife Sharon, and Elizabeth Tisdale and husband, Xan; grandchildren, Julia Burgin, Simone Burgin, Leah Burgin, Olivia Kemp, Sophia Kemp, Samuel Kemp, Boyd Tisdale, Reece Tisdale and Finley Tisdale.
We especially want to thank our dear friend, Dr. Jennifer Garst, and the medical team at The Duke Cancer Institute, as well as Dr. Jim Granfortuna, of Cone Health.
