Barbara Price Maples, 66, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Boles Funeral Home Chapel, in Southern Pines, with the Rev. Carl Matthews and Rev. David Pratt officiating. The family received friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines.
Barbara had an active lifelong involvement with the Girl Scouts and the Malcolm Blue Junior Historians, and a strong passion and expertise in all aspects of North Carolina history.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Phillip L. Richardson III.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Maples; her daughter, Marsha Richardson and husband Phillip, of Aberdeen; her granddaughter, Sarah Presley; and great grandchildren, Madison and Caleb Presley, and Ashlynn Richardson.
