John Albert Rowe, 63, of Slidell, La., passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at the First Pentecostal Church of Slidell, 388 Robert Blvd., Slidell. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, in Slidell. Visitation was also held from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Honaker Funeral Home, in Slidell.
He was the beloved husband of Agabita Lelia Garcia Rowe; father of David Brian Rowe, Christopher Michael Rowe, Matthew Bradley Rowe, John Andrew Rowe, Natalie Carol Rowe and Rodney Bonsack; foster grandparent of Keion Boston; son of the late Carol Upton Rowe and Albert Hiram Rowe, ret. Army Command sergeant major; and brother of Benjamin Proctor Rowe (wife Georgia) and Nancy Rowe Cameron. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A native of Fort Bragg, the youngest of three children, John graduated from Southern Pines High School, where he was voted “Most Likely To Succeed.” He later graduated from East Carolina, where he played football (All State in his freshman year), and obtained his master’s degree from Central Michigan University. John worked after graduation for a textile company before joining the United States Air Force in 1975. He loved football and tennis.
John was a spiritual man who loved the Lord, and was loved by his family and many friends.
