Eula Pearl Thornberg, 88, of Raeford, died Monday, May 28, 2012, at her home.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Crumpler Funeral Home, Raeford. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at Shiloh Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Stephen Hannah officiating.
Mrs. Thornberg was born Nov. 30, 1923, in Johnston County, to the late Henry W. Johnson and Annie Massengill Johnson. She was a member of the Shiloh Presbyterian Church. In 1947 she graduated from the North Carolina Training School for Nursing at McCain and retired in 1987 from the North Carolina Department of Correction at McCain.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Thornberg. She is survived by two sons, Alan J. Thornberg and his wife, Linda, of Pinebluff, and Harry Lee Thornberg, of Raeford; a daughter, Patricia T. Stokes and her husband, Leonard, of Rockingham; a brother, George Johnson, of Benson; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
