Hester C. Beal, 91, of Sanford, died Monday, May 21, 2012, at Parkview Retirement Center.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Miller-Boles Funeral Home, in Sanford. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at Miller-Boles Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Gelsthorpe officiating. Burial will follow at the Buffalo Cemetery.
Mr. Beal was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Chatham County, to the late N.C. and Fleta Brewer Beal. He served in the U.S. Marines, fighting in the Pacific during World War II. He was a charter member of Stanley McLeod VFW Post, American Legion, a faithful member of Fall Creek Baptist Church, and a partner with N.C. Beal & Sons Inc. of Sanford.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Burke Beal; brothers Cone Beal and wife, Mavis Beal, and Edison Beal and wife, Ruby Beal.
His survivors include nieces, nephews and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Burke Horton, of Zebulon.
