Elizabeth B. Pilling
Elizabeth B. Pilling, 80, of Southern Pines, died Monday, May 21, 2012.
A brief graveside service will be held for the immediate family and close friends at 2 p.m. Friday, May 25, at Bethesda Cemetery, in Aberdeen.
She was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late John R. and Marion P. Booth.
After graduating from Springside School in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, she entered Colby Sawyer College in New Hampshire. Upon receiving a medical secretary degree, she worked for two pediatricians in philadelphia. While residing in Newtown, Pa., for 30 years, she was active in her community by being a Sunday School teacher and deacon with the Newtown Presbyterian Church.
She volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital, was a member of the Newtown Historical Association, Historic Fallsington, and joined the parents association for the Council Rock High School Marching Band. She held the position of examiner of papers as a member of the Colonial Dames of America and was also a member of the Questers of America. When Elizabeth and Paul moved to the Pinehurst area in 1989, she formed a new Quester Chapter for the area.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Paul M. Pilling; two daughters, Cynthia E. Pilling and husband, Bruce A. Darrough, and Carolyn A. Pilling; and a brother, John R. Booth and his wife, Ann.
