John W. Stanton
John William Stanton, 84, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at St. Joseph of the Pines, in Southern Pines.
A funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Edward J. Burch officiating. Entombment will follow at the Pinelawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Boles Funeral Home, in Pinehurst.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Stanton was born April 6, 1928, to the late John W. Stanton and Jeanette Burns Stanton. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member to the Tin Whistles Golf Association and the Pinehurst Country Club. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 11103. He was a devoted husband of 60 years, and a nurturing father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Harkin.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane Stanton’ children, James Stanton, Judy Baldaccini, John R. Stanton and his wife, Barbara, and Janet Tschida and her husband, Don; grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Baldaccini, and Brittany Tschida; and sisters Alice Wood and Joyce Tormey.
