Judy Edwards, 84, passed Saturday, May 12, 2012, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Boles Funeral Home, in Southern Pines. Interment will be private.
Mrs. Edwards was born Sept. 12, 1927, to the late Mr. and Mrs. “Pistol Pete” Vann, in Mount Olive. She was a graduate of Women’s College. She was married on Dec. 5, 1953, to the late Eugene “Joe” Edwards. They shared 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2008.
In 1984, Judy and Joe moved from Charlotte to Pinehurst, where they spent their retirement. Judy was an avid gardener and bridge player. She enjoyed the game of golf, in which she proudly scored two holes-in-one.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by two sons, Joseph “Vann” Edwards, of Pinehurst, and Vincent “Mitch” Edwards and wife, Sandie, of Clayton; a daughter, Chris Gay and husband, Joe, of Kernersville; and six grandchildren, Lindsay, David, Christian and Madison Edwards, and Melissa and Ryan Gay.
