Harry C. Hoffman, 79, an 18-year resident of Longleaf, died Wednesday May 9, 2012, at Penick Village.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 14, at The Village Chapel, in Pinehurst. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service at the church.
Born Nov. 11, 1932, in Hershey, Pa., he was a son of the late Robert M. and Violet May Nornhold Hoffman, and was the husband of the late Carolyn Campbell Hoffman.
Mr. Hoffman was a U.S. Navy veteran who served as a medic during the Korean War and had a compassion to continue serving his country. He was a retired schoolteacher, and a member of the The Village Chapel.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stuart Hoffman. He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Hoffman, of Carolina Beach; two sons, Steve Hoffman and wife, Donna, of Spring City, Pa., and Scott Hoffman and wife, Cindy, of Pottstown, Pa.; two sisters; five brothers; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
