Donald Edward Moffatt, 79, of Pinehurst, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 8 2012, at his home.
Born in Tennessee, Donald was raised from age 5 in Detroit. He attended David Mackenzie High School, and upon his graduation in 1951, he received a drama scholarship to Wayne State University in Detroit. He was a graduate of Wayne State University with a a business degree (marketing).
Drafted into the United States Army in 1953, Donald soldiered with the 44th Infantry Division in Fort Lewis, Wash. Upon his honorable discharge from active service in 1955, he returned to his home state and began work at the Ford Motor Company in their marketing division.
Donald and his wife, Patricia, retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years and took up residence in Seven Lakes in 1991. In early 2006, they moved to Pinehurst. An avid golfer and lover of arts, Donald will be remembered for his passion of both — and also for his two aces on the 12th hole at Beacon Ridge Golf Course, 10 years apart! His smile, his wit and his love for family will be missed by all.
Donald is survived by his wife, Patricia; children from his previous marriage, Scott Moffatt, Jill Chancey and Leslie Norton (Timothy); and granddaughter Kimberly Chancey along with Julie McClain (John), Barton Bodell (Stacy) and granddaughter Olivia McClain.
