Arthur Russell “Russ” Ferris, 63, of Pinehurst, died Sunday, May 6, 2012, at his home, after a two-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m., at Boles Funeral Home, in Pinehurst. A funeral Mass will be held at a later date at Corpus Christi Parish in Sandwich, Mass. Burial will be in Cape Cod National Cemetery.
He was born July 18, 1948, to the late Arthur G. Ferris and Elizabeth MacGregor Ferris. He was a veteran of his country and served in Vietnam with the United States Marines. He formerly attended Dutchess Community College (Neb.) and Chadron State College (Neb.). He was recently employed by Progress Energy, where he worked as a project manager for power generation.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Brigida Ferris; a son, Dax A. Ferris, of Sandwich, Mass.; three grandchildren, Antonia, Claudia and Chase Russell; two brothers, Roy Ferris, of Valentine, Neb., and Robert Ferris, of Mahopac, N.Y.; and a sister, Jane Ferris, of Port Richey, Fla.
