Mr. Hilmar J. Roessel, 90, of Aberdeen, died Friday, March 30, 2012, at Pinehurst Health and Rehab in Pinehurst.
Services will be private.
Mr. Roessel was a native of Philadelphia, Pa., and moved to North Carolina in 1960. He retired in 1984 from Fletcher Industries, where he worked in sales, with 40 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star Medal.
Mr. Roessel was a member of the D.A.V. and had been a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1947. After retirement, he enjoyed playing golf and working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Roessel; a son, John Roessel, of Salisbury; a daughter, Kathryn Marlar, of Maggie Valley, N.C.; and a granddaughter, Amber Marlar, of Charlotte.
