Saroline Evarda Sunde Weygandt, 90, died Monday, March 26, 2012, in Pinehurst.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 30, at Boles Funeral Home, Pinehurst. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home.
She was born June 19, 1921, in Akron, Ohio, to Adolph and Jenny Sunde, both of whom were born in Norway.
Saroline graduated from the University of Akron with a B.S. in education and taught elementary grades for 25 years in the Akron Public Schools.
She was a life sorority member of Phi Mu fraternity; Lutheran Women; and State of Ohio Retired Teachers Association. She was also past president of Akron Panhellenic Association and Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Womans’ Club.
Since coming to Pinehurst in 1983, she had been a member of The Village Chapel, Pinehurst Country Club, the Encore Club, and the College Club. She served as treasurer of the Merrywood Homeowners Association and the Encore Club. She enjoyed golf and volunteering for various charities.
Saroline was married to Edward C Weygandt in 1943 until his death in 2000. She is survived by her twin sister, Henrietta Austin, of Pinehurst; sons, Jerry (Helen) Weygandt, of Brentwood, Tenn., and Don Weygandt, of Buford, Ga.; grandchildren, Chris (Jackie) Weygandt, of Bowling Green, Ky., Jim Weygandt, of Sacramento, Calif., and Jennifer Weygandt, of Buford, Ga.; and great-grandson, Brayden Weygandt.
