Lee Pattison, of Vass, passed Friday, March 23, 2012, at his home, surrounded by family, from complications of cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at at the Pinehurst No. 4 course, at the first tee.
Lee was born Sept. 27, 1949, in Somers Point, N.J. to Robert and Kathleen Pattison (deceased), and raised in Absecon, N.J. He earned a B.A. from Stockton State College and an M.A. from St Joseph’s University in criminal justice. Lee served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1974, earning a Vietnam Service Medal and a Bronze Star. He returned home to meet and marry the love of his life, Susan.
Lee began his career with the Absecon Police Department in 1972 and earned many honors, including two awards for valor and Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. He became deputy chief in 1988 and retired in 1997 after 25 years of police service.
He began a second career in golf as an assistant golf pro and manager of outside services at the Seaview Marriott Country Club in New Jersey. He retired to North Carolina in 2003 and worked for Caddie Master Enterprises as a professional caddie at Pinehurst until 2011.
Lee had a brave and beautiful soul.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan Pattison; daughters, Fawn and Katie Pattison; siblings Cynthia McKnight and Jeffrey Pattison; granddaughter Ruth Ann Pattison McCallie; and five nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sandhills Branch of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
