Merla Arlene Coons Hardy, 74, of Carthage, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Boles Funeral Home, Southern Pines, with the Rev. Hubert McLeod officiating. Interment will follow in Johnson Grove Cemetery, in Vass. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 23, at the funeral home.
She was born March 30, 1937, in Clearfield, Pa. Mrs. Hardy was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Candor. She was an avid church member and a wonderful mother of five.
Surviving are her children, Tillie H. Reynolds and husband, Maurice, of Southern Pines, Roy T. Hardy and wife, Linda, of Vass, David L. Hardy and wife, Louise, of Vass, Mary Hardy, of Southern Pines, and Frances H. Atkins and husband, Johnny, of Carthage; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Daniel Hardy; and her mother, Marian Richards.
