Marie Blue Berry, 88, of Southern Pines, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Elizabeth Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, Addor, with Elder Carl Core officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Southern Pines. Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Purcell Funeral Home, Southern Pines. The family will receive family and friends at 133 S. Lake Shore Drive, Whispering Pines.
She is survived by her nine children, Lewis (Maria) Swans, of Vass, Edith (Robert) McCants, of Ashville, Celestine (Willie) Miller, of Pinehurst, Helen (Anthony) Covington, of Raleigh, Rachel Lutz, of Raleigh, Fortner (Rose) Berry Jr., of Charlotte, Michael Berry, of Charlotte, Craig (Kathy) Berry, of Columbia, S.C., and Phyllis Berry, of Charlotte; two sisters, Lorraine McCants and Edna Cotton; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
