Jesse Earl Jones, 71, of Angier, passed Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the Liberty Commons nursing facility, in Benson.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, with service starting at 11 a.m., at the Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church, 4440-A Piney Grove Road, Angier, with the Rev. Tim Blair and the Rev. Johnny Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Beulah Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, in Pinehurst.
Mr. Jones was born July 15, 1940, in Smithfield, to the late Melvin Roscoe Jones and Gladys Adell Eason Jones Cates.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Carolyn Jones; a sister, Billy Colline Jones; and a stepbrother, Johnny Ray Cates.
Mr. Jones is survived by a son, Jessie Earl Jones Jr. and wife, Claudia; two daughters, Annette Bowers and husband, Dana, and Judy Mae Jones; two stepsons, Richard Paul Johnson and wife, Pam, and David Leroy Johnson and wife, Marie; a stepdaughter, Rose Marie Pace; two brothers, Waylon Jones and wife, Margaret, and Bobby Jones and wife, Marie; a sister, Mildred Reilly and husband, Dick; two stepbrothers, Glenn Cates, and Tony Cates and wife, Gloria; three stepsisters, Pat Pierce, Jean Cates and Diane Hamilton and husband, Fred; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
