SFC Benjamin Cicero Hall, U.S. Army (ret.), 78, died peacefully at home Sunday, March 18, 2012.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, at McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont Bumgardner Chapel, with Gaston Hospice Chaplain Greg Qualls officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Gardens, Mount Holly, with full military rites. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont.
A native of Mount Holly, he was son of the late Kimsey Estelle “Bill” and Vernie Jane Nolan Hall.
Ben was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars and also seven tours of duty on foreign soil. He made the last parachute jump at the end of the Korean War and received many awards and medals. He retired as acting First Sergeant of Company M Military Police on Fort Bragg.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary Alex and Sheila Brown Hall, of Carthage; daughter and son-in law, Diana and Hubert Hampton, of the home; grandchildren, Christopher Hall, Walter, Dustin, Joshua and wife, Krista Hawley, and Cremson Hawley Godwin, all of the home, and Tiffany Dawn Hall, of Sanford; great grandchildren, Joshua Lee Hawley, Kendra Madison Hawley and Vanessa Jayde Hawley; brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Ann Hall, of Alexis; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Johnny Queen, of Stanley; former wife, Eleanor Irene Costner Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Gregory Alan Hall; daughter Martha Jane Hall; brother James Nelson Hall; and sisters Beatrice Orgeron Keener, Barbara Ann Key, Rose Hamby, Billie Jean Hall and Alice Willard.
