Mary Patricia Cronin Smiley, 92, of Sea Level, formerly of Southern Pines and Fayetteville, died Monday, March 12, 2012, at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay, Sea Level.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, at St. Egbert Catholic Church, with the Most Rev. Michael F. Burbidge presiding, and Rev. Douglas J. Smiley, principal celebrant. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, at a later date.
She was born March 22, 1919, in Boston, to Joseph and Ann McManus Cronin.
She is survived by her children, the Rev. Douglas Joseph Smiley, of Morehead City, Robert James Smiley, of Norfolk, Mass, Mary Louisa Bianchetti, of Henniker, N.H., Charles Cronin Smiley, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Anne Marie Smiley, of Raleigh; seven grandsons; and three great-grandsons.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Douglas Irwin Smiley, and sister, Eleanora Janusis, preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
