Charles E. Lucas

Charles Edward Lucas, 84, of Aberdeen, departed this life Thursday, March 8, 2012.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 10, at Ives Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Don Ballenger officiating. Burial was in Bethesda Cemetery.
Charles was born May 6, 1927, in Harnett County. He was the son of the late Lee Washington Lucas and Annie Salmon Lucas, and the beloved husband of the late Susan Lorrain Stone Lucas.
He worked in manufacturing with the Proctor Silex Company, retiring as supervisor after many years of dedicated service. He served as a member of Ives Memorial Baptist Church and cared for the grounds at Bethesda Cemetery.
He enjoyed New York Yankees baseball, spending time outdoors and fishing. Charles loved talking to people and especially spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Mack Lucas; and sister-in-law Ann Lucas.
Mr. Lucas is survived by his daughters, Becky Lucas McNeill and husband, Paul McNeill, of Pinebluff, and Sandra Lucas Carpenter and husband, Steve Carpenter, of Asheville; five grandchildren, Meredith Longfellow and husband, Ian, Brandy Atkinson and husband, Jim, Jennifer Way and husband, Buddy Lee Way, Stephen Carpenter and wife, Patty, and Scott Carpenter; and 11 great-grandchildren, Emma Carpenter, Stephen Carpenter, Victoria Carpenter, Gabriel Carpenter, Grace Anne Longfellow, Olivia Longfellow, Rebecca Dupre, Jonathan Dupre, Seth Way, Trey Way and Caroline Way.
