Irene Mercedes Flores Smith, 61, of Aberdeen, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
A memorial service in Puerto Rico will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Smith was born June 14, 1950, in New York City, to Hector and Victoria (Coban) Flores. She worked in New York’s Methodist Hospital for more than 30 years as a respiratory therapist. She retired to Hoke County in 2005.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jack Ralls Smith; a daughter, Michelle Irene Hale and husband, Timothy, of Bronx, N.Y.; her father, Hector Flores, of Bradenton, Fla.; a brother, Chuck, of Las Vegas; two sisters, Lisa and Donna, of Long Island, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Brandon Hale, Justice Jack Hale and Quentin Hale.
