James Clifton Griffin

James Clifton Griffin, 77, of Tyner, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, in Greenville.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating and Masonic rites. Military honors were rendered by the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post 6060. Burial was in New Hollywood Cemetery.
The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and immediately following the service Tuesday in the lobby of the funeral home.
Born in Perquimans County, he was the son of the late Clifton and Lorene Dail Griffin and the husband of the late Celia White Griffin.
Mr. Griffin was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. He worked for the United States Postal Service for more than 32 years. He was a member of Eureka Masonic Lodge No. 317 AF & AM.
Mr. Griffin is survived by three daughters, Dianne Cowand and husband, George, of Merry Hill, Debbie Gray, of Columbia, and Jean Cain, of Carthage; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
