Richard I. Whittle
Richard I. Whittle, born in Summerville, S.C., died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at his home.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Bethesda Cemetery, in Aberdeen.
Mr. Whittle was a graduate of UNC Greensboro. He was employed by Bulldog Hiway Express out of Charleston, S.C. He was a road team captain for the S. C. Trucking Association and also a road team captain for the American Trucking Association, headquartered in Arlington, Va. America’s Road Team is a national public outreach program led by a group of professional truck drivers who have superior driving skills, remarkable safety records and a desire to promote highway safety.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn; three stepchildren, Paul and Ryan Hearne, and Karen Snyder; five grandchildren; his mother, Betty Lou Whittle; and sisters, Debbie Dingman and Linda Durst, of Plano, Texas.
