Maysie Calder Rich, 95, of Whispering Pines, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at St. Joseph of the Pines, in Southern Pines.
Visitation with the family will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at the Southern Pines United Methodist Church, in Southern Pines. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. immediately after the visitation.
She was born March 7, 1917, in Rochester, N.Y., to the late John and Edna Calder. She was married to her late husband, G. Earl Rich, on Aug. 15, 1940.
Maysie graduated from the University of Rochester as a registered nurse. Her nursing career included teaching nursing in New York City and various nursing positions in New Jersey, South Carolina and Alabama before retiring in 1976.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Arthur D. Rich, on June 1, 2012.
She is survived by her sons Robert G. Rich and his wife, Susan, of Whispering Pines, and Donald C. Rich and his wife, Linda, of Tampa, Fla.; grandsons David Rich and his wife, Brandi, John Rich and Scarlett Webb; granddaughter, Julia Rich; and great-grandchildren Jacob and Abigail Rich and Paris Bercume.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the FirstHealth Hospice Foundation at Foundation of FirstHealth, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374.
