CASEY
John W. Casey, 95, of Pinehurst, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with Msgr. Jeffrey A. Ingham officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at St. Anthony of Padua Cemetery. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Boles Funeral Home, in Pinehurst.
John was born on July 18, 1916, in Richmond, Calif., to the late Richard and Catherine Casey He was a proud veteran of his country and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He traveled during this time to locations such as ATTU, Kwajalein Atoll, Leyte Island and Okinawa.
He was an avid San Francisco 49ers football fan even after years of being away from California. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling with his wife to locations such as the Philippines and Hawaii. John was the oldest man to ever parasail in Cancun, Mexico, at age 93.
John was predeceased by his parents and one son, Richard Joseph Casey; and a brother, Richard Floyd Casey. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances “Pat” Casey; three step-sons, Michael, Richard and Martin Bailey; one stepdaughter, Michele Illing; and a daughter-in-law, Susan Casey.
