Douglas Smith Sr., 79, of Southern Pines, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at St. Peter’s Deliverance Church of God, in Southern Pines. Walk-through viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Simon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the church. Burial will be in Zion Grove Community Cemetery, Eagle Springs.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl; sons, Darryl, Terry, Howard, and Douglas; daughters, Pamela Blackmon, Priscilla Smith and Tina Gillis; brother, Lacy Smith; sister, Mazie Smith; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Mr. Smith’s home at 192 Murray Hill Road, Apt 92A, Southern Pines.
