Clyde “Scott” Chandler III, 66, of Aberdeen, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 9, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Boles Funeral Home, in Southern Pines, with the Rev. Harold Morcombe officiating, followed by interment in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at the funeral home.
Scott was born Dec. 23, 1945, in Syracuse, N.Y., to the late Clyde S. Chandler Jr. and Mable Crist Cooper. He graduated from Southwestern High School in Jamestown, N.Y., and spent his early years as a local radio announcer and later with WNAE in Warren, Pa. He met and married Lea Larsen on Sept. 16, 1967, in Jamestown.
Scott traveled extensively worldwide for Chronos Richardson in Clifton, N.J., working as a field service engineer for 25 years. He later worked in manufacturing maintenance until his TBI accident in October 2009. After his accident, Scott retired and made great strides to recover with help from family and friends. He was a member of MOCARS and American Legion Post 72, Aberdeen.
Scott is survived by his devoted wife, Lea; a son, Steven Chandler, of Aberdeen; a daughter, Jamie Waldschmidt and husband, Luke, and grandchildren, Abby and Douglas Waldschmidt, of Carthage; a sister, Bonnie Bergstrom, of Matthews; a brother, Todd Chandler and wife, Kim, of Aberdeen; aunts, Elizabeth Hogg, of Aberdeen, and Alice Fugate, of Ohio; several cousins, nieces and nephews; his faithful pets, Bella and Inky; and special friends Debbie, Helanie, Dan, Eliz, Ron for all their dedication.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Moore County Red Cross, Disaster Relief, P.O. Box 407, Southern Pines NC, 28388; or to the Michael Douglas Edwards Endowed Scholarship for Culinary Arts, Sandhills Community College, Associate Director of Development, 3395 Airport Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374.
