Margaret Ann Lally, 88, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at FirstHealth Hospice House, in Pinehurst.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, in Pinehurst. Family will receive friends following the service in Founders Hall.
Known to family and friends as “Peggy,” she was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Chicago, to the late Margaret Watts and Paul C. Johnson. She raised her family of eight children in Chicago and Boston before retiring to Pinehurst in 1985 with her husband, Jack. She was active in the Pinehurst community for the past 27 years, including golf, volunteering and with the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was an avid golfer and bridge player and also enjoyed her large family, reading, crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy.
Mrs. Lally is survived by her sons and daughters, Rick Lally and wife, Nan, of Midlothian, Va., Patricia Lally, of Crystal Lake, Ill., Tim Lally, of San Bruno, Calif., Catherine Lally and husband, Alan Glick, of Blacksburg, Va., Thom Lally, of Charlotte, Sue Kuphall and husband, Grant, of Edwards, Colo., James Lally, of Winston-Salem, and Brian “Wally” Lally, of Pinehurst. Mrs. Lally is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, John R. Lally.
