Rhonda Mae Garner Evans

Mrs. Rhonda Mae Garner Evans, 51, of Cameron, passed away on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Vass, with the Rev. Eugene Ussery officiating. Burial will follow at Union Church Cemetery.
Rhonda was born in Newport News, Va., on May 9, 1960, to Mae Morgan and Robert Garner. She attended Sandhills Community College for two years and UNC–Greensboro College where she earned her bachelor’s degree in science of nursing. She also earned her master’s degree in science of nursing at UNC-Charlotte. She was employed at Central Carolina Community College for 21 years, with the last 15 years serving as the director of nursing.
She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, her family, beach trips, teaching her students and caring for people. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Rhonda is survived by her parents, Mae Morgan and Robert Garner, of Seagrove; her beloved husband of 30 years, Danny Wright Evans; one daughter, Tyndall Evans Bibey and husband, Michael Wayne, of Carthage; one son, Jathan Daniel Evans, of Cameron; one sister, Donna Garner Woodley, of Robbins; one brother, Joey Garner, of Seagrove; and two grandchildren, Taylan Lee Evans and Gabrielle Danae Bibey, of Carthage.
A visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home.
